How to polish metal parts with cheaper items

バイク日記

Hello,

this is Channel Ace.

Do you know the word “SDGs”?

Roughly speaking, let’s protect the earth together!

That’s why I’m writing a blog,

I thought it would be nice to do something for the earth!

Save the Earth! , I say cool things,,,

What can we do?

It’s best not to emit exhaust gas without riding a motorcycle! ,

Until then, if you say so,

I like vintage bike, so if this is taken away, I might not be able to live! ?

I think there are many people like me,

Today we will proceed with the theme “Let’s revive the vintage!”

Buying a new one when it gets the vintage is NG from the SGDs point of view.

Especially for vintage bikes, it may be difficult to obtain new parts, so

I think it will be necessary to reuse existing parts.

I hope that I can be of some help to all of you.

How to make plated parts shiny?

Speaking of vintage bikes, it’s a parade of plated parts!

If you do not polish it regularly, it will become dull,

It cannot maintain its original luster.

If the plated parts are shiny, the whole bike looks gorgeous,

You can tell that they are taking care of you.

Solvents for polishing plated parts are not sharp, so if you choose an expensive one,

It will be shiny, but this time,

It would be nice if you could do it cheaply and shiny!

This is what I use!

It is the compound of SOFT99.

It comes in a set of 3, and I use all of them until they’re shiny.

First, fine (green), then medium (red), and finally extra fine (yellow).

The particles of the compound are getting finer and finer.

A towel or cloth is sufficient for polishing.

I often use my fingers to polish the parts because I know how they feel.

Below is the before and after.

By the way, this is the fender attached to the DAX50 6V in 1969.

There was some rust, but I was able to remove it cleanly.

Spot rust must be removed with the fine (green) tool, otherwise the particles will become finer with the medium (red) tool.

It will be harder to drop.

If the fine (green) did not seem to remove the rust,

#2000 water-resistant paper, while spraying water,

If it’s light, it will look pretty good.

How to make aluminum parts shiny?

In conclusion, it will be beautiful with the previous compound,

Many aluminum parts are so-called die-cast,

Since the skin is rough, it will not be shiny with a compound suddenly.

In this case, after using water-resistant paper from coarse to fine,

If you finish it with a compound, it will be shiny!

Besides this, Picard is also quite good.

As a trick, toothpaste with particles like those used for whitening!

As a way to make it shiny using familiar things without spending money,

I think that it is quite the strongest.

We recommend that you use your fingers instead of a toothbrush! smile

Summary

Taking care of parts also leads to protecting the earth.

Especially old bikes are running out of parts,

I believe that reuse is essential.

Old parts are rare even if they are in bad condition, so

it’s expensive, so I’d like to keep maintenance costs as low as possible.

From the perspective of SGDs, I would like to introduce various things in the future.

I would appreciate it if you could look forward to it.

I look forward to your comments,

I would be happy if I could connect with you through this blog and SNS!

I also welcome your requests for my blog, so please feel free to contact us.
