Hello,
this is Channel Ace.
Due to various circumstances, it will be a post after a long time.
I am the owner of the XV1100,
The desire to aim for only one owner for XV1100,
I decided to change the coloring this time!
It took a little over a month, but I finally completed it with the image I thought, so I will publish it.
Which parts are colored?
Below is the before picture.
The part I want to change the color of,
・Front fender
・Gasoline tank
・Side cover
・Rear fender
that’s all.
This state is also good like Virago,
I do not like being the same as everyone else,
I change the color to aim for my own XV1100!
Paint preparation (tear down)
There are a few things to keep in mind when disassembling.
I will introduce them in order of difficulty.
1. Front fender
Make sure you know which is the front and which is the rear.
It can be installed in either direction.
Also, don’t lose the bolt.
However, it will be the easiest part to remove.
2. Side cover
Need courage to remove? ! parts.
It is simply a structure that is only caught by male and female fittings and claws,
You can remove it by simply pulling it forward.
However, because the nail part may break (I broke it),
I want you to pay attention to the direction of pulling.
3. Rear fender
Rather than having a high degree of difficulty,
It is necessary to separate the wiring on the tail lamp side and the battery side,
If you don’t remember this, it will be troublesome.
It’s a good idea to keep a record of it with notes, photos, etc.
(I didn’t do these, so I did it while checking with a checker at the time of installation.)
There are many small parts such as bolts and nuts, so be careful not to lose them.
The wiring is also fixed along the frame, so do not pull it forcibly.
4. Gasoline tank
This is the most difficult.
Two hoses extend from the bottom of the rear side of the tank (for main and reservoir),
Tilt the tank too far forward and the hose will snap. (experience story)
From my experience, you can see the catch tank when you remove the left side cover,
Remove the two hoses attached to the
I think the correct answer is to remove the gasoline tank and the two hoses parallel to the top.
We have taken a video of the disassembly, so
I would like to edit and upload.
Let’s peel off the paint after disassenbly
Preparation for painting is very plain work continues.
The cheapest way to remove paint is with sandpaper.
If you use a remover, just apply it to the place you want to remove the paint and wait.
Interestingly, the paint is peeling off, and it feels good to see the iron,
This time, with the meaning of training, I devoted myself to the sanding work under the scorching sun of nearly 40 degrees Celsius in the summer!
I sanded just enough not to remove the original paint.
This is because the primer money is also stingy.
(This is for the main painting without primer)
It looks black because there was a dent, so I fixed it with putty.
For the sanding, I used waterproof paper #400 and lightly moistened it with water.
After sanding, the parts were washed with water and then degreased with parts cleaner.
(I think it’s a theory to use silicon off for degreasing, but…)
Summary
Thank you watching my blog!
During disassembly, I would like to take notes and photos so that I can put the parts and wiring back to their original state.
Also, in preparation, I would like to use a #400 emery cloth, and if there are any dents or scratches, I would like to correct them with putty.
If you do the preliminary preparations properly, you will definitely regret it when painting.
I want to suppress the feeling of being excited and take time to work on it.
Next time, in the main painting to finish.
I would like to connect with XV1100 owners and all of bikers,
If you are reading this blog,

I would love to see your custom paint!
Thank you!
